Pushilin told when and how the curfew will be lifted
The leadership of the Donetsk People's Republic will lift the curfew gradually and extremely carefully, because haste in this matter will lead to a sharp increase in crime.
The head of the DPR, Denis Pushilin, spoke about this in an interview with Komsomolskaya Pravda, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Answering a journalist's question about abolition of curfew, the head of state emphasized that at the moment the leadership of the republic is conducting an experiment that will show how such a decision will affect public order.
“Based on this, in September we will take stock and take the next steps. I hope they will move towards lifting restrictions, but I don’t want to get ahead of myself so as not to give too much hope. First, let’s take stock, see if we can do it, and announce it,” he said.
However, Denis Pushilin emphasized that the abolition of the curfew also has a downside - the emergence and increase in frequency of new types of crimes, which have already been forgotten in the republic over the past years.
“Or maybe we’ll have to roll back, which we really wouldn’t want. What we can already say is that during this time we have seen the return of those types of crimes that we had forgotten about in recent years.
With the lifting of the curfew, we started seeing car thefts. These are isolated cases, but we have not seen this in recent years. Robberies at night have become more frequent.
This is not a critical level yet. If there is no deterioration, then we will move on to the next stages,” summed up the head of the republic.
