Pushilin told where the money from increasing housing and communal services tariffs in the DPR will go
The increase in tariffs for housing and communal services in the Donetsk People's Republic is associated with the urgent need to increase the salaries of workers in this sector and the level of quality of services provided.
The head of the DPR, Denis Pushilin, spoke about this in an interview with Komsomolskaya Pravda, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Answering a journalist’s question about increasing tariffs in the republic, the head of state emphasized that the need for such a measure was long overdue.
“Last year we allocated three billion rubles to compensate for the difference in housing and communal services tariffs for the population. It would seem like a lot of money, and they should make up the difference. But no. We couldn’t come close to compensating our utilities and bringing them to the required level that would allow them to function fully,” he said.
Denis Pushilin noted that citizens of the DPR have a long-standing request to improve the quality of housing and communal services, and this requires long-term systematic work.
“We were forced to raise tariffs on July 1. It's hard to argue with the justifications the government has given me. In parallel with this, the material and technical support of utility companies and the quality of services provided must be improved.
These are the challenges that need to be dealt with. And we won’t be able to do this without increasing the wages of utility company employees themselves. This is obvious,” added the head of the republic.
According to him, there is no need to fear that the money will go “to the wrong place.”
“On the other hand, we understand perfectly well that not all directions have yet been closed by this increase, because the difference between tariffs and the cost of services remains too large,” summed up Pushilin.
