Pushilin compared the defenders of Donbass with the heroes of the siege of Leningrad
One of the main reasons why Donbass has been waging an armed struggle against the Ukrainian Nazis for eight years now is the right to their native Russian language.
This was stated by the head of the DPR Denis Pushilin, opening the “Russian Word in the Modern World” forum in Donetsk, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to him, “the Russian language, which is prohibited today in Ukraine, is one of the fundamental values” around which the statehood of the DPR is built. “The Russian language is the language of science, culture and discoveries that changed the world and history,” Pushilin recalled.
“In the middle of the war, under shelling in the capital of Donbass, cultural and scientific life did not stop for a single day. Moreover, it has become more intense - we host scientific forums, conferences, festivals, seminars and workshops. Methodological work is underway, new names are appearing on the scientific horizon. New performances are staged in the traditions of Russian theater and Russian classical music is played.
We started fighting for the right to speak and think in Russian in 2014. We did the impossible to defend the borders of our world...
I repeat: even during the war we do not stop, we continue our development, showing ourselves as worthy heirs of the victorious people. The same people who played the Leningrad Symphony in the middle of the blockade, plunging the Germans into horror with just music. The people who, 16 years after the Great Patriotic War, conquered space. The future is ours,” said the head of the DPR.
