Pushkov assessed the state of affairs on the Russia-West information front
Russia is so far winning the information war on its territory and holding its position.
This was stated today at a meeting of the Russian Federation Council commission on information policy by its chairman Alexei Pushkov, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Now, if we conducted a public opinion poll on the degree of trust in Western media among the Russian audience, I am sure that the numbers would be extremely indicative. I believe that in Russia and some neighboring states we have already won this war, and now we are holding our positions.
Our audience is convinced that the degradation of Western media continues, and it is better to receive information from Russian sources. Some people use Telegram and social networks, but the flagships of Western media have ceased to be an authority. They are all viewed as political and propaganda tools,” Pushkov said.
At the same time, he believes that in the West the Russian position is completely blocked.
“Under these conditions, there is no need to say that we can have a decisive impact on the information situation there. We must assess the situation realistically. But at the same time, an interesting phenomenon is observed: at the level of political elites, the Russian argument, if it does not find understanding, is at least included in the domestic political discourse. It is not uncommon for influential figures to say that Russia’s security interests must be taken into account. This means that our message is getting through,” Pushkov concluded.
