Pushkov: We will disagree with the West on everything except aliens
The phrase “Western partners” takes on not just a sarcastic, but a sardonic meaning.
Senator Alexei Pushkov stated this at a round table in the Federation Council, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We must understand that there is no single system of criteria, perhaps with the exception of certain topics such as natural disasters and alien landings. In everything else, we will disagree,” Pushkov said.
He believes that Russia must stop “perceiving itself in a reflected light, abandon the idea of a liberal democratic system, which at some point was perceived as a fetish.”
“This doctrine has existed since the late 90s. On the one hand, it turned out that the USSR was not so bad. On the other hand, the Western world obviously has not turned out to be a model of democracy and stability,” Pushkov said.
