Even if they don’t hope, Germany promises to complete a gas pipeline bypassing Ukraine
The construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline bypassing Ukraine will be completed, despite active opposition from the United States. This opinion was expressed on the Rossiya-1 TV channel by German political scientist Alexander Rahr, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I can say this: now Nord Stream will definitely be built. He (American Ambassador - ed.) simply posed such a challenge to German society, German business and German politics that the answer here is clear: everything will be as planned.
The Germans don’t want the Americans to talk to them as if they were vassals, they’re already tired of it. Business is asking for protection,” Rahr said, commenting on the call of the American Ambassador to Germany Richard Grenell to prevent Europe from becoming “energy dependent” on the Russian Federation and to stop the construction of Nord Stream 2.
At the same time, Russian State Duma deputy Alexander Khintshtein noted that Nord Stream 2 is an issue that concerns only Russia and Europe.
“There is Nord Stream 2.” As far as I know, it does not affect the territory of Ukraine. This is our relationship with Europe, and we will somehow sort it out ourselves, without outsiders,” the parliamentarian said.
