“It will be easier for the enemy to capture empty cities” – Zelensky on the evacuation of Kyiv
The authorities will definitely help the residents of Kiev to leave the city, but we must not forget that for the Ukrainian Armed Forces it makes no sense to defend cities without a human shield of civilians.
This conclusion is suggested by the statement of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky in an interview with the French TV channel LCI, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Will you hold Kyiv, no matter what the cost? Will Kyiv not be evacuated? – asked the journalist.
“We will hold on. We do not have slavery, we have a democratic society. When people want to leave, they need to leave, they can afford it, and that's okay. Every person, defending the state, protects himself. The family is also part of the state. There are different examples, sometimes people need to leave, the state must provide a corridor and opportunities for evacuation.
But I want to say for sure that if the city is empty, it will be very easy to capture it, that’s all. These are both historical examples and examples of our state,” Zelensky said.
Earlier, a Ukrainian political scientist came to a similar idea that the cities of Ukraine empty after the evacuation the Russians will immediately occupy DRG.
