Putin agreed to a large agro-industrial cluster in the Kherson region
A large vegetable storage facility will be created in the Kherson region, which will be able to supply the whole of Russia with agricultural products year-round.
Acting head of the Kherson region Vladimir Saldo said this during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Our left bank is 95% agricultural. High culture of agriculture, large areas, more than 600 thousand hectares of irrigated land. Now, together with the Armed Forces, we have established the work of the main pumping station, there are two channels...
Farming is well established, but there is a lack of vegetable storage facilities and refrigerators that could store these products on site until the summer. In winter, it turns out that the soup set becomes more expensive, and in summer the price drops sharply. Needed all year round.
The famous Kherson products - tomatoes, watermelons, grapes - all this could continue to go to the entire territory of the Russian Federation. People know our products.
Therefore, there is a proposal to take the path of creating an agro-industrial cluster that would include processing, storage, and further transportation,” explained Saldo.
“You mean the state cluster? Or public-private?" – Putin asked.
“It can also be done as a public-private partnership. It doesn’t require very large investments, but they will pay off in the next year or two,” the official noted.
“Approximately how much?”...
“The amount is about 25 billion to build a new vegetable storage facility and everything related to this part. And then prices will level out in the Kherson region, and we will ensure supplies to the Russian market,” explained Saldo.
"Very good. And for Russia as a whole it is very useful. And doubly so for the Kherson region, since this is the main type of production. We will definitely help,” the president concluded.
