Putin: DPR and LPR are recognized within the framework of the former Ukrainian regions
Russia recognized the LDPR within the borders of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions.
Russian President Vladimir Putin announced this at a press conference today, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We recognized them. This means that all their fundamental documents, including the constitution, were recognized. And the constitution spells out the borders within the Donetsk and Lugansk regions at the time when they were part of Ukraine.
But we expect that all controversial issues will be resolved during negotiations between the Kyiv authorities and the leadership of the republics... We understand that at the moment this is impossible, since the fighting there continues and tends to escalate,” Putin said.
