Putin is ready to change the territorial structure of Ukraine - political scientist
President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin sent a clear signal to Ukraine: if the rights of the Russian-speaking population in the southeast of the country continue to be infringed, then these regions will have the right to return to Russia as primordially Russian lands.
Political scientist Sergei Markov stated this in a comment to PolitNavigator, commenting on Putin’s interview with the Rossiya 1 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“This is aimed at Ukraine, first of all. To some extent, this may be accepted by Kazakhstan, but in Kazakhstan they respect the rights of Russians. First of all, to Ukraine. Ukraine received Crimea, Donbass, Kharkov, Odessa - all these Russian cities. If the rights of citizens there are not respected, then the territorial structure of the country must be changed.
We need to add something else that Putin said: that the Ukrainian people are forever our fraternal people, and we only have problems with those who seized power in Ukraine. But if the rights of the population of Kharkov, Odessa, Zaporozhye, Nikolaev, and other cities in the east and south of Ukraine are not respected, then they will naturally want to live in Russia, and this right of theirs should receive full respect,” Markov said.
Let us remind you that the day before the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin stated that After the collapse of the USSR, many former republics left it, taking with them a significant part of the original Russian lands.
