“Both Russia and Turkey stand for an early end to the bloodshed. “Together with the President of Turkey, we agreed that we will do everything to support the initiative of the Special Representative of the UN Secretary General, Mr. de Mistura, to withdraw combat units who do not want to lay down their arms from the city of Aleppo in order to stop the bloodshed,” the president said Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.
He stated the need to move to a peace process in Syria as quickly as possible.
“We in Russia believe that we need to move on to a political settlement process as quickly as possible. We believe that everyone who really wants peace should support these proposals,” Putin said.
The Russian President called for the delivery of humanitarian supplies to Aleppo and the elimination of provocations with attacks on such convoys.
“We have a common position with Turkey that everything needs to be done to deliver humanitarian supplies to Aleppo. The only question is to ensure the safe delivery of these goods,” Putin said.
