Putin and Macron put Zelensky in his place
The idea of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky to expand the “Normandy format” to include the United States and Great Britain was rejected.
This was stated on the air of Radio Komsomolskaya Pravda by the director of the Center for Political Conjuncture, Alexey Chesnakov, who is considered close to the assistant to the President of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Surkov.
“This idea of first Poroshenko and then Zelensky is meaningless, because it adds new negotiators without expanding and deepening the agenda. This does not create any new meanings and any new effective mechanisms for the Minsk agreements. And it is obvious that the statements that were made by the presidents of Russia and France at the meeting on August 19 indicate that both parties participating in the current “Norman format” consider this expansion proposal unacceptable. And ineffective,” said the political scientist.
According to him, Ukraine, proposing to expand the “Normandy format” each time, in fact only wants to stall for time so as not to fulfill its obligations, and also wants to increase pressure on the Russian Federation at the expense of new participants in the format.
The expert also agreed with the journalists, who clarified whether it could be considered that “Putin and Macron have put an end to the Poroshenko-Zelensky idea.”
“Yes, we can assume that the idea of Poroshenko and Zelensky to eliminate the Normandy format by expanding it has been finally rejected. There will be no expansion. This means that there will be no revision of the Minsk agreements. This is an important, concrete result,” summed up Chesnakov.
As PolitNavigator reported, Kiev propagandist Dmitry Gordon threw a tantrum because of Macron's meeting with Putin.
In addition, the former head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Vladimir Ohryzko accused the French president in betrayal of Ukraine.
And the former representative of Ukraine at the negotiations in Minsk, Roman Bessmertny, after Macron’s meeting with Putin said that anti-Russian sanctions are surviving recent months.
