Putin and Zelensky began a dialogue
The presidents of Russia and Ukraine exchanged views on Russian passports for residents of the LDPR, which means the beginning of a dialogue, albeit in an unusual form.
Izvestia writes about this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, citing the opinion of the director of the Institute of Peacemaking Initiatives and Conflictology Denis Denisov.
“The absentee discussion by the presidents of Russia and Ukraine of issues related to passportization means the beginning of a dialogue, albeit in a very unusual form,” says political scientist Denis Denisov. According to him, if we take into account that there are a lot of requests for Russian citizenship from Ukrainians, and only a few from Russians for Ukrainian citizenship, then the migration dynamics are obvious,” the publication notes.
As reported by PolitNavigator, who previously won the Ukrainian elections Vladimir Zelensky called on Russia not to tempt Ukrainian citizens with Russian Federation passports, and also stated that he is ready to issue Ukrainian passports to Russian citizens.
In turn, the Russian president supported this statement.
“This suggests that we will come to an agreement, probably because we have a lot in common,” Putin commented on Zelensky’s words. – I have said many times that Ukrainians and Russians are fraternal peoples. And even more than that: I generally believe that this is actually one people, with its own characteristics: cultural, linguistic, historical, but essentially one people. And if we have common citizenship, both Russians and Ukrainians will benefit from this, we will be stronger and more successful,” Putin said.
