“The situation was provoked by external factors, first of all,” he said, admitting that “much has not been done to diversify the economy” of Russia.
“Under the most unfavorable circumstances, I think about two years. After this, growth is inevitable... with the growth of the world economy, additional energy resources will be required,” Putin added.
According to him, Russia now has more than $400 billion in reserves, but “the Central Bank does not intend to burn them thoughtlessly.”
At the same time, Putin did not sharply criticize the leadership of the Central Bank: “Everything is being done correctly, but it needs to be done, probably, half a step faster.”
