“I would like to thank you for raising this problem and saying that there are problems in Ukraine and Crimea. You divided Crimea and Ukraine. And this is correct,” Putin said.
The audience responded to this remark with applause. Later, the Russian president spoke out on the problem of Ukraine.
“In the same States, there is an opinion, we know this for sure, that the worse the relations between Russia and Ukraine, the better for them. Because this weakens Russia and does not give way to any integration processes that would strengthen Russia, including in the economic sphere. And in general, let Russia tinker with its border affairs there and not meddle in international issues, such as Syria and others. This, they say, is beneficial for us,” Putin said.
The Russian president considers this approach to be erroneous.
“This is not beneficial for anyone, because if we use such dangerous means as regional conflicts to restrain someone, this could lead to global disasters. We must strive to resolve conflicts of any kind. We very much hope that our American partners will take this path of cooperation,” Putin said.
