Russian President Vladimir Putin announced this today at his final press conference.
“I would like to inform you that Chernomorneftegaz has completed work on connecting the Crimean gas transportation system to the main gas pipelines of the Russian Federation. In the next two or three days we will announce that the work has been completed and the supply of Russian gas to Crimea has begun,” Putin said.
The audience responded to this with applause.
The President recalled that gas will serve as fuel for two thermal power plants under construction in Crimea, each with a capacity of 470 MW.
“This will mean that the total generation will be about 2 thousand MW. The additional reserve for the development of the Crimean economy will be 800 MW,” Putin said.
