Putin reminded liberal journalists about their colleagues who died in Donbass
Russian President Vladimir Putin, answering a question from Novaya Gazeta today about the investigation into the deaths of journalists in the Central African Republic (where they went to prepare material about “Russian mercenaries”), recalled that Russian correspondents also died in Donbass.
“This is definitely a tragedy. People died, they still had families. In general, there are a lot of tragedies involving journalists. We must never forget, among other things, the journalists who died in south-eastern Ukraine. Those who came under fire, and those on whom, in fact, an attempt was made, were simply shot. Please don’t forget about these,” Putin said.
As for the journalists who died in the CAR, the president recalled that they visited this country privately, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Your colleagues, as far as I know, arrived in Africa without any notification to the local authorities. They came as tourists. According to the data available today, the assassination attempt was carried out by some local groups. An investigation is underway. There is little reliable data. We expect that they will be received,” Putin said.
