Putin reminded Pashinyan who feeds Armenia
The first meeting of Russian President Vladimir Putin with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, who came to power during mass protests, took place today in Sochi, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The official website of the Kremlin reports this.
Putin reminded the Armenian leader that Russia remains Armenia’s leading trade and economic partner. Its share in the country's foreign trade turnover is 25%.
“Russian investments account for about 35% of all foreign investments in Armenia. We have recently seen an increase in trade turnover – also by about 25%. And supplies of Armenian agricultural products to the Russian market are growing at a faster pace: the growth was 38% over the previous months,” Putin said.
In response, Pashinyan assured that the new Armenian authorities intend to maintain partnership relations with Russia.
“There is also something that does not need to be discussed - these are the allied strategic relations between Armenia and Russia. And in principle, I can assure that there is, one might say, a consensus on this issue in Armenia, and no one has ever questioned, and I think that will not question, the strategic importance of Armenian-Russian relations,” Pashinyan assures.
