Saakashvili stated this in an interview with Ukrainskaya Pravda.
“I also know that at the end of 2016 Gryzlov from the Minsk Contact Group came. And Gryzlov gave him [Poroshenko] Putin’s ultimatum - that I need to be removed from Ukrainian politics and governorship,” Saakashvili claims.
According to him, “Putin was very worried” that the ex-president of Georgia took the post of governor of the Odessa region.
“In the summer of 2016, he sent an FSB group, which rented all the apartments around my residence, to find incriminating evidence on me. But then they were recalled because the Russians received guarantees that I would be removed from the post of governor. After this, Poroshenko calls me and says: “You are apparently tired of Odessa, let’s send you as ambassador to Holland.” To which I smiled right in his face. He then said: “If you don’t want to go to Holland, then let’s go to Southeast Asia.” That is, he sent me to the beach in Thailand!” Saakashvili was indignant.
