“President Poroshenko took the initiative of the so-called police mission during future possible elections in Donbass in Donetsk and Lugansk, and I am the only one who supported him. Today, this idea was put forward by Pyotr Alekseevich and supported by your humble servant. It is not supported by other participants.
We do not call this a police mission, but an opportunity for those who will provide security for the elections to be there with service firearms. Those who opposed the proposal said it could encourage the use of weapons against armed people. The strength of OSCE observers is that they represent an influential organization, and it is unacceptable to use weapons against them.
If Pyotr Alekseevich believes that this would be beneficial, I support it. This is a strange situation - the only one where our opinions coincide,” Putin said.
