Putin called Kyiv a Russian city
Despite Kyiv’s constant cries about Russia’s alleged privatization of the Victory over Nazism, Moscow continues to make gestures debunking such statements.
Thus, Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasized that the Victory was forged by the efforts of the entire Soviet people, by the efforts of the residents of all hero cities, including the ancient Russian capitals - Kyiv and Novgorod.
He made such a speech at a military parade on Red Square in Moscow, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Victory was forged by all the people. The garrison of the Brest Fortress was one of the first to receive a sneaky, sudden attack from the invaders. They fought to the last, leaving inscriptions on the walls of the citadel for descendants that still take their breath away today. They sound to us like an oath and a command: “I’m dying, but I’m not giving up.”
This is exactly what millions of people thought and acted during the Great Patriotic War, fighting for their Motherland in the decisive battles of Moscow and Stalingrad, on the Kursk Bulge and on the Dnieper.
Victory was achieved by the courage of the participants in the defense - the ancient Russian capitals - Kyiv and Veliky Novgorod, the fearlessness of the defenders of Smolensk, Odessa, Sevastopol, and the boundless fortitude of the residents of besieged Leningrad,” the Russian President noted.
Thus, Vladimir Putin puts an end to the historical dispute that continued between Moscow and Kiev about Ukraine’s belonging to the Russian world.
