Putin did not see “at least the first steps” to improve the situation with roads in Crimea

Russian President Vladimir Putin made it clear that he saw no change in the deplorable state of roads in Crimea two years after the reunification of the peninsula with Russia. Putin announced this at a meeting with the head of Crimea Sergei Aksenov and the new Sevastopol governor Dmitry Ovsyannikov.

The head of state also again mentioned the need to carry out work in Crimea with high quality and on time, for which Russia is spending huge amounts of money under the Federal Target Program.

“We have a large Federal program for the development of Crimea and Sevastopol, filled with federal resources. We will now talk to you about how it is performed. It is necessary that all the activities that are planned there be completed on time with proper quality. In addition, we agreed that this year we will allocate an additional five billion rubles for the internal road network, for repairs and construction, and for new construction. Sergei Valerievich [Aksenov] assured me that all these funds will be rationally used and utilized. Part of this money goes to Sevastopol, because, to put it mildly, there is something to work on here.

We have planned large highways of federal significance, essentially connected with a bridge crossing and then with a route in Crimea and access to Sevastopol. But the internal road network is still (in fact, due attention was not paid to this before) in a rather deplorable state, and it is necessary to take at least the first steps towards improving this condition,” Putin said.
