Putin on Ukraine: We will be forced to close the border altogether
The Ukrainian economy is in a deplorable state. Russian President Vladimir Putin announced this today, speaking at the Valdai Club in Sochi.
“There is complete deindustrialization in the economy. There are practically no investments. How can you work with an economy that is being undermined from within by some kind of political crisis? Some kind of military hysteria is being whipped up. And everything old was destroyed - shipbuilding, aircraft manufacturing. And so with everything,” Putin said.
He blamed the situation on the West, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Why did our Western partners insist so much on the tough option of drawing Ukraine into the association? Now they demand that she allow the round timber to be exported. But this is not Siberia. Three or four years, and all the forests will be destroyed.
Now the American partner demands that GMOs be distributed in agriculture there. We will then be forced to close the border altogether, because GMOs are prohibited in our country. They will start exporting black soil now,” Putin said.
He believes that the West has set its goal to prevent cooperation between Russia and Ukraine.
“They only sell anti-Russian sentiments; there are no more goods left. For this they are forgiven everything. Because even in a nightmare, our so-called partners would not dream that Ukraine and Russia are cooperating in any way. They believe that competition will increase in the world,” Putin said.
