Putin addressed Biden

Russian President Vladimir Putin sent a congratulatory telegram to Joseph Biden, who was confirmed as US President by the Electoral College.

The official website of the Kremlin reports this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

In the telegram, Putin wished the president-elect every success and expressed confidence that Russia and the United States, which bear special responsibility for global security and stability, can, despite their differences, really contribute to solving many of the problems and challenges that the world now faces.

The Russian president also emphasized that Russian-American cooperation, based on the principles of equality and mutual respect, would meet the interests of the peoples of both countries and the entire international community.

“For my part, I am ready for interaction and contacts with you,” the Russian leader’s telegram says.

Democratic Party candidate Joe Biden received 306 votes, while incumbent President Donald Trump received 232 votes. To win it was necessary to get at least 270 votes out of 538.

The new president will take over the White House after his inauguration on January 20.
