Putin declared Israel a Russian-speaking country
Almost two million Russian-speaking citizens live in Israel, and the country is connected with Russia through family and kinship ties.
Kommersant reports this was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin, speaking at the congress of the Keren Hayesod Jewish Foundation, which collects donations for Israel, held in Moscow.
“Citizens of Russia and Israel are connected by family, kinship and friendship ties. This is a real network, common family, I say without exaggeration! Almost 2 million Russian-speaking citizens of Israel live in this country. We consider Israel a Russian-speaking state!” said the Russian president.
He also thanked Jewish organizations for opposing attempts to revise the results of World War II.
“When we are faced with negative phenomena, with attempts to revise the results of the Second World War, to distort history, I, on the one hand, with pleasure, and on the other hand, with alarm, must note that almost the only organizations that publicly opposed all these attempts were there were Jewish organizations in Europe, including in the Baltic countries!
Of course, I always think about this, and think with gratitude, but it’s a pity that it’s only them. After all, people were not afraid to go out into the streets, protest, put on the clothes of concentration camp prisoners, reminded of those events, and took an active, open position. “We thank them very much for this,” the Russian President emphasized.
Thank you!
