The leader of the LDPR, Vladimir Zhirinovsky, announced this today at a meeting of the State Duma of the Russian Federation.
“We are right to help in the fight against extremists, but unfortunately, we are on the side of Assad, who is hated by the majority of the country’s inhabitants. Sunni Arabs want a change of government. Perhaps some of the Arab revenge spread to us. During the post-war years we were on the side of legitimate governments. This is correct from the point of view of international law, but citizens of Arab countries do not like it,” Zhirinovsky said, referring to the murder of Russian Ambassador Andrei Karlov in Ankara.
He hopes that the terrorist attack in Ankara will spur Russia to quickly conclude strategic agreements with Turkey.
“I sent out analytical notes to everyone. Only the president called me and said that the note was valuable. All other structures remained silent. The swagger of officials,” said Zhirinovsky.
