“There is nothing to be happy about. They did the same with the Agreement as with Ukraine - under a far-fetched pretext, they took and cut off a significant part. On March 21, the “political part” of the document was not signed in Brussels – only a pitiful “stub” was signed, the publication says.
As the author of the article clarifies, the signed agreement does not even mention that Ukraine can count on EU membership in the future.
“The Agreement could not be signed in this form. This is just a joke. And one more reason for the Kremlin’s schadenfreude,” the newspaper states.
“How did it all happen? Yes, as usual - because of unprofessionalism and inability to defend national interests... The main thing is to sign something, show a beautiful picture on TV, loudly declare success, the realization of people's aspirations, and confirm one's own legitimacy at a high international level. Who will understand the intricacies, delve into the Agreement, how many people in the country will understand what is signed and what is not?” – notes the publication.
“Why did the EU do this to Ukraine? Why has the Agreement not been fully signed? There are several main reasons. Home – Russia. After all, she “works” not only with Ukraine, but also with European countries,” states Zerkalo Nedeli.
“The Europeans really don’t want to get drawn into the conflict. They fear for their own safety, businesses and capital. For them, it’s more comfortable to get rid of Ukraine with money – very little for them, let’s face it. They are afraid to connect their future with the future of Ukraine, which Russia has encroached on,” admits the Ukrainian newspaper.
"Nothing. We will endure. We'll do everything ourselves again. But the people, who for the first time in European history took to the barricades for European values, can ultimately say goodbye to illusions not only about Russia, but about Europe too,” the author warns.
