Putin will remain the first person of the state
Russian President Vladimir Putin will not resign or retire - he will remain head of state in any other capacity.
Alexey Venediktov, head of the Russian liberal radio station Ekho Moskvy, said this on air on the Ukrainian TV channel NASH, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Venediktov, after the reunification of Crimea and Russia, Putin felt his mission as a “gatherer of Russian lands” and therefore will not resign until it is completed, and it is impossible to fully fulfill it.
“Previously there was a question of security - his personal and his family. Then the story arose that he liked it. And after Crimea, and this is Ukraine’s fault, there arose - this didn’t happen before, I say cynically - an awareness of the mission arose. Moreover, a mission that succeeds. It doesn’t matter what you call it - the unification of the Russian people, it doesn’t matter, let’s not get hung up on words. There is a certain mission, it succeeds, and until I complete this mission, it will be desertion. Deserters are hated. Those who want to jump off are hated.
To such pragmatic things as security, making decisions for everyone, maybe fame - I’m not ready to answer here, publicity, this sincere mission was added, and this is the hardest thing that can happen, because this mission can never be completed... From my point of view today, Putin will remain the first person of the state. It doesn’t matter how it will be. The head of the State Council, a strengthened prime minister, a strengthened parliament, a patriarch - I don’t know. It doesn’t matter, he will remain the first person,” Venediktov said.
