Putin will remain president until he solves the Ukrainian problem
The amendment to the Constitution of the Russian Federation, which effectively nullifies the terms of President Vladimir Putin’s reign, was introduced in case of a sudden crisis that only he can solve, as well as because of Ukraine, the problem with which has still not been resolved.
Russian pranker Alexey “Lexus” Stolyarov told PolitNavigator about this.
“In fact, the amendment regarding zeroing was adopted, including in connection with the Ukrainian issue. Because at the moment the conflict with Ukraine has not been resolved, and it is unknown what will happen with the Minsk agreements. But since Putin signed them, he has the greatest competence in this matter.
It is still difficult to predict how the situation will develop in 2024. Therefore, in the event of an escalation of the conflict or a crisis of the elites, it may turn out that only Putin will be able to solve it,” the pranker noted.
Alexey Stolyarov also emphasized that the majority of Russians who voted “against” the new Constitution made such a choice solely because of their reluctance to see Vladimir Putin as president again. But in general they agreed with the amendments.
“But I would add that this amendment does not mean that Putin will necessarily remain after 2024. It only reinforces this possibility. As for the 25 percent “against”, there are not only liberals and pro-Ukrainian people, but also communists who voted against only one person.
In general, the amendments themselves and their attitude towards modern Ukraine are not much different from those who voted “for”. But besides this, there are those who did not vote in principle. It is for them that the battle should unfold. But the vote itself confirms that foreign policy will remain unchanged,” the prankster added.
