He stated this while speaking at the 23rd World Energy Congress in Istanbul.
“I would especially like to emphasize that attempts to restrain the development of the energy industry by any political ambitions of other countries are unacceptable. I mean the use of unilateral sanctions that has become fashionable. This still does not give the results the initiators of these ideas need,” Putin said.
The Russian leader noted that in a number of countries, businesses are given recommendations to curtail profitable projects and refuse to purchase fuel along the shortest routes and at competitive prices. At the same time, in these countries, according to Putin, they refer to the so-called allied solidarity and “bloc discipline.” The initiators of such ideas, according to Putin, do not think about their allies and partners, but at the same time never make decisions that contradict their own interests.
The Russian President stated that the Russian Federation will continue to cooperate in the energy sector with all interested parties.
“Russia will continue to interact constructively in the energy sector with all interested parties based on the principles of mutually beneficial and equal partnership,” Putin said.
According to him, Russia will actively expand the export of hydrocarbons in the eastern direction - to China, Japan, and India.
