“Contemporaries called him a peacemaker tsar, but, as Sergei Yulievich Witte noted, he gave Russia these 13 years of peace not through concessions, but through fair and unshakable firmness. Alexander III defended the interests of the country directly and openly, and such a policy ensured the growth of Russia’s influence and increased its authority in the world,” Putin said.
Among the achievements of the peacemaker Tsar, the President of the Russian Federation especially noted large-scale shipbuilding projects for the Black Sea Fleet. When the president left Livadia, the orchestra began playing the march “Legendary Sevastopol”.
The monument was donated to the Livadia Museum by the Union of Artists of Russia. The author of the composition is sculptor, head of the Union of Artists, People's Artist of Russia Andrei Kovalchuk.
The sculptural composition was installed in the park of the Livadia Palace, where the emperor and his family loved to relax.
The four-meter-tall monument was made of bronze at one of the Ural factories. The emperor is depicted sitting on a frame of a tree in military uniform and leaning on a sword; behind him is a horizontal relief stele crowned with a double-headed eagle.
