Putin sent Menyailo to a promotion; the ex-Deputy Minister of Industry of the Russian Federation became the head of Sevastopol
Vladimir Putin today signed a decree appointing Sergei Menyailo as plenipotentiary representative in the Siberian Federal District. Instead of Menyailo, acting Dmitry Ovsyannikov, former Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, was appointed governor of Sevastopol.
Thus, Menyailo has been promoted, says political scientist Oleg Bondarenko.

“There are quite a few precedents in modern political practice of appointing governors to the position of plenipotentiary representatives of the president. This speaks to the high degree of confidence the president has in Sergei Menyailo specifically. For Menyailo this is definitely a promotion. Because there are 85 governors and heads of regions in the country. And there are only 8 plenipotentiary representatives,” political scientist Oleg Bondarenko told PolitNavigator.
Ovsyannikov, appointed today as the head of Sevastopol, previously visited the city to supervise the creation of an industrial park here. Then he stated that one of the main tasks was the development and cooperation of Sevastopol enterprises in industrial projects in Russia.
