Russian President Vladimir Putin announced this today at the ceremony of signing an agreement on the admission of the LDPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions to Russia, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“People living in Donetsk, Lugansk, Kherson and Zaporozhye become our citizens. We call on the Kiev regime to stop hostilities and return to the negotiating table. But we will not discuss the choice made in Lugansk, Kherson, Donetsk and Zaporozhye. Russia will not betray him", Putin said.
He emphasized that the regions that voted to join Russia are now under its protection.
"We will defend our lands with all the forces and means available to us, and we will do everything to ensure the safety of people. This is the great liberation mission of our people,” Putin said.
