Putin announced the conditions for the export of grain from Odessa. Ukrainian media are outraged
Russia is ready to ensure the safe export of grain from Ukrainian ports only in the event of a package agreement with the West on the lifting of sanctions against Russian grain on world markets, which will allow Moscow to export this year’s record harvest.
Russian leader Vladimir Putin stated this at a press conference, commenting on the results of negotiations with his Turkish colleague Recep Erdogan on Ukrainian grain, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The Republic of Turkey and President Erdogan personally did a lot to ensure that an agreement was reached on the export of Ukrainian grain. But initially we posed the question in such a way that this should be packaged, namely, we will facilitate the export of Ukrainian grain, but we proceed from the fact that all restrictions associated with possible supplies of Russian grain for export will be lifted. We initially agreed on this with international organizations. They took the trouble to package it all up. Nobody has objected so far, including our American partners. Let's see what comes of this in the near future.
But, as you know, let’s say, the restrictions associated with the supply of Russian fertilizers to the world market have been lifted by the Americans, actually lifted. I hope the same thing, if they sincerely want to improve the situation on world food markets, I hope the same thing will happen with supplies of Russian grain for export. And we, I repeat again, are now ready, right now, we have an export potential of 30 million tons of grain, and according to the results of this year it will be 50,” the Kremlin website quotes Putin.
Ukrainian media received the words of the Russian President with undisguised indignation, calling them “brazen.” The UNIAN agency, owned by oligarch Igor Kolomoisky, stated that the record harvest that Russia claims is ensured by harvesting in fields in the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions occupied by the Russian army.
“We know where this growth of “potential” comes from... He steals Ukrainian grain and offers to “exchange” it for the lifting of sanctions from the Russian Federation,” the UNIAN author comments in impotent anger.
