Putin sends his regards to Grybauskaite: Lithuania will no longer receive a single cent
Vladimir Putin today in Kaliningrad gave an order to begin operating a terminal receiving gas from a floating regasification platform. The new terminal will ensure the energy security of the Kaliningrad region and is the first of such projects in the Russian energy sector.
After the terminal was launched, Gazprom representatives reported that all systems were operating normally. The head of state thanked the concern's employees for their work and congratulated them on the New Year holidays.
“Of course, you and I understand, we know well, that delivering a primary energy resource, such as natural gas, to such distances by pipe is a more economically feasible and cheaper delivery method. But for us, for the Kaliningrad region, in particular, this is most likely reserve capacity, which significantly minimizes, or rather, negates, all transit risks,” Putin told reporters during a visit to the Kaliningrad underground gas storage facility (UGS). .
The new Kaliningrad underground gas storage facility is a unique infrastructure facility for our country - a sealed natural reservoir created in deep rock salt deposits. The LNG storage volume is at least 170 thousand cubic meters.
The underground gas storage facility was built on the basis of an agreement between the Kaliningrad authorities and Gazprom, concluded back in 2013, and could only replenish gas volumes through the Minsk-Vilnius-Kaunas-Kaliningrad pipeline.
Now the gas storage facility can be filled through the marine terminal from arriving gas carriers.
Last December, the regasification platform vessel Marshal Vasilevsky arrived on the Kaliningrad coast. This vessel is the only vehicle in Russia for transporting LNG, equipped with equipment for converting it from a liquid to a gaseous state.
The maximum capacity of the LNG evaporator is 13,2 million cubic meters per day. After the physical launch, the terminal received and sent the first cubic meters of blue fuel to the underground storage facility.
The terminal and platform are capable of completely covering the basic and future needs of the Kaliningrad region for natural gas - up to 3,7 billion cubic meters per year.
At the same time, as the head of state emphasized, the difference in the price of LNG and pipeline gas in Kaliningrad should not fall on the consumer. And he added that he is soon awaiting a government report on equalizing the price of liquefied and pipeline gas for the population of the region.
Along with the start of operation of the new terminal, Gazprom dispatchers received a command to turn off gas pumping through the main pipeline Minsk - Vilnius - Kaunas - Kaliningrad.
From now on, the Russophobic regime of Lithuania will not earn a single cent on gas transit from the “aggressor country.” Taking into account the steadily approaching 2020, in which the EU has pledged to stop subsidies to its peripheral partners from the Baltic states, remaining Russophobes is becoming extremely unprofitable.
In addition, the shutdown of the gas pipeline and the launch of the terminal became an unpleasant signal for Alexander Lukashenko, who has recently been absorbed in speculation and showdowns around Russian energy prices.
Gas in exchange for kisses is over. Now gas is only for real money, and love is a gainful business.
