“Today in this hall there are representatives of all 85 constituent entities of the Russian Federation. And among them are people's representatives from Crimea and Sevastopol. The results of the election campaign are based on the will and choice of Russian society. I see the unconditional legitimacy of parliament as a guarantee of the strength and authority of the legislative branch,” Putin said.
Let us recall that earlier representatives of Ukraine, the United States and the European Union stated that they consider the elections to the State Duma of the Russian Federation in Crimea illegitimate.
As a result of the elections, Crimean Prosecutor Natalya Poklonskaya, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Crimean Government Mikhail Sheremet and Deputy Prime Minister Ruslan Balbek were elected State Duma deputies from Crimea on the United Russia party lists. Deputy of the State Council of Crimea Pavel Shperov was elected from the LDPR list.
Representatives of United Russia were elected in three majoritarian constituencies in the Republic of Crimea: first vice-speaker of the Crimean parliament Konstantin Bakharev, vice-speaker Andrei Kozenko and head of the cultural committee of the State Council of Crimea Svetlana Savchenko.
United Russia representative Dmitry Belik became a deputy from Sevastopol.
