Putin summed up the negotiations between Medinsky and Peskov
Russia's special operation in Ukraine will continue until its completion due to the inconsistent position of the Kyiv negotiators.
Russian President Vladimir Putin stated this at a joint press conference with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We reached a certain level of agreement in Istanbul, which was that security guarantees for Ukraine (and the Ukrainian side negotiates very strict security guarantees for itself) will not extend to the territories of Crimea, Sevastopol and Donbass. Instead of continuing the negotiation process, we saw a provocation in Bucha, and most importantly, the Ukrainian side moved away from its agreements in Istanbul.
Now, security issues are one thing, but issues of resolving relations in Crimea and Donbass are beyond their scope. That is, we have again returned to a dead-end situation for ourselves and for all of us. I was told that last night the Ukrainian side changed something again. I don't know these changes yet. But such inconsistency on fundamental issues creates certain difficulties in achieving final agreements acceptable to everyone on the negotiation track. Until this happens, the operation will continue until it is completely completed and the tasks that were set at the beginning are solved,” Putin said.
This statement extremely excited the Ukrainian lawyer Andrey Smoliy.
“That’s wonderful. Muscovy must be destroyed. No negotiations with outright degenerates,” he wrote in his telegram channel.
“The Kremlin’s initial position for the Russian delegation in Istanbul, as follows from today’s Putin, obviously consisted of solving the maximum task - Ukraine’s recognition of Crimea as part of Russia and the LDPR as independent states. In order to solve this ambitious task, Putin was ready to take a risk and play with Zelensky in the U24 concept.
Subsequent events showed that this risk was unjustified due to the irreconcilable position of the United States and Great Britain. The Kremlin, in principle, is ready to continue the “game of negotiations” with Ukraine, but it is not going to stop the special operation for their sake,” says political scientist Maxim Zharov.
“In general, Putin, in one speech, leaked all the achievements of the defeatists, starting with Istanbul. “I just took it and like a balloon burst,” publicist Yegor Kholmogorov commented on the president’s words in his Telegram channel.
“Putin closely monitors discussions in society. (That is, Putin knows that you were all talking about Peskov here),” says political scientist Sergei Markov.
