Putin helps Zelensky “bury” Poroshenko
Yesterday, at a press conference, Russian President Vladimir Putin actually made a “political pass” to Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky.
Kiev political scientist Alexey Yakubin stated this in a commentary to Moskovsky Komsomolets, assessing Putin’s yesterday’s statement, which said that Poroshenko asked him to influence the Donbass republics so that they would agree to sign the Minsk agreements.
“Putin’s statement should be considered as a political pass to Zelensky, made with the help of the media. It is impossible to confirm or refute his words, but Poroshenko has a reputation as a person who is ready to use any tricks to achieve his goal. In this regard, the Russian President can be trusted,” the expert said.
In his opinion, Putin’s words are related not to the events of 2014-2015, but to the Normandy Four summit in Paris, which ended quite recently.
“Zelensky has repeatedly stated that he inherited the Minsk agreements from Poroshenko, and now they need to be implemented. And Poroshenko today is the main critic of the agreements on Donbass. Putin, on the one hand, is actually helping Zelensky politically “bury” the former president, and on the other, inviting him to a political dialogue with Donetsk and Lugansk, without which there can be no peaceful resolution of the conflict,” Yakubin concluded.
As PolitNavigator reported, yesterday at a press conference the Russian president said, that several years ago Poroshenko begged for representatives of the DPR and LPR to sign the Minsk agreements, to which they initially did not agree.
It is noteworthy that Poroshenko, under whom Ukraine signed the agreements in Minsk, is now one of their main critics.
