Putin understands the pointlessness of negotiations with Ukraine
President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin agreed to take part in the meeting of the Normandy Four only because ties with Germany and France that are more significant than Ukraine are at stake.
Russian publicist Irina Alksnis stated this on air on the PolitWera Internet channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“For him it will simply be a completely meaningless trip to Paris, a wasted day. This is, of course, a disadvantage of Moscow agreeing to this meeting. On the other hand, compared to other issues that exist between Russia, Germany and France, Ukraine is such a small thing that it is easier for Putin to agree and make concessions to Merkel and Macron, who have found themselves in a very unpleasant situation for themselves and their reputation.
That is, we have Nord Stream 2 with Germany, Germany is doing a lot to push through the EU, and Germany has really done a lot. Our cooperation is being restored. Macron is looking Putin in the mouth and is going to Moscow on May 9. Against this background, it’s easier to spit: “To hell with you, since you promised the GXNUMX that you would meet, oh well, I’ll come, we’ll waste the day with you,” Alksnis said.
