Putin promised the German businessman not to lift the “sanctions”
A German businessman named Richter asked Russian President Vladimir Putin not to lift “sanctions” on agricultural products from Europe. This request was conveyed to the president by Viktor Goffman, a member of the board of directors of the Kaliningrad company “Novoye Pole” at the final “Action Forum” of the ONF today.
He said that Mr. Richter’s company is a partner in “New Field” and has been engaged in livestock farming for more than 20 years. In recent years, agricultural producers in Kaliningrad have been doing very well. The President corrected the entrepreneur that Russia did not impose “sanctions” against Europe, but “retaliatory measures”

“We did this deliberately, in fact, we took advantage of the short-sighted decisions that were made regarding our country by the partners who imposed sanctions. We took advantage of and created conditions for the production of agricultural products within our country.
Of course, all producers within the country are interested in ensuring that this situation continues as long as possible. I understand you and can whisper in your ear: we will delay as long as possible,” Putin said.
However, he noted that the initial introduction of retaliatory measures led to an increase in food prices.
“Last year our inflation was over 12%. Today we have inflation of 4,7%. This is a rare achievement. Overall for the year it will be around 5,7%. Let me remind you that the lowest inflation rate was in 2011 and amounted to 6,1%. The food price growth index dropped sharply. Now I will say something that may be criminal in your opinion. The consumer is interested in receiving the best quality goods at the lowest price. Therefore, we need to create competitive conditions,” Putin said.
