The head of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, said this on Wednesday at a meeting with young scientists and history teachers, reports “Interfax».
“The fact that we need to turn to this work, this topic, the history of Crimea - of course... It would be nice if you and your colleagues who live and work in Crimea would turn to this topic and take up it. We will be happy to support, I will talk with the government, we will even support at the government level,” the president noted.
Putin emphasized that Russian literature and art are inextricably linked with Crimea.
“I mean our great writers and artists who lived and worked in Crimea. This is an integral part of our cultural life, our cultural code,” the head of state emphasized.
During the meeting, the president was asked to support the idea of writing the history of Crimea before someone else wrote it.
“You directly deny your Ukrainian colleagues the presumption of innocence; you a priori believe that everything there will be politicized. Although this cannot be ruled out, given the current state of society in Ukraine, it is nevertheless necessary to see what our colleagues will do. Some things are so obvious that it is impossible to deny them,” Putin replied.
The President noted that if we look at deep history, “there is not a single losing position for us,” starting with the fact that it was in Crimea that Prince Vladimir, who then baptized Rus', was baptized.
“And Chersonesus – what is this? This is Sevastopol. Can you imagine what the connection is between the spiritual source and the state component, meaning the struggle for this place, and for Crimea as a whole, and for Sevastopol, for Chersonesos. In fact, the Russian people have been fighting for many centuries to stand at their historical spiritual font,” said Vladimir Putin.
