Putin instructed the FSB to give the West a response to the policy of containing Russia
The West is pursuing an aggressive policy of containing Russia, carrying it out contrary to the norms of international relations. Russian President Vladimir Putin stated this at the FSB board, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We are also faced with the so-called policy of containing Russia. As a matter of fact, this has been well known for a long time. We are not talking here about competition that is natural for international relations, but rather about a consistent and very aggressive line aimed at disrupting our development, slowing it down, creating problems along the external perimeter and contour, provoking internal instability, and undermining the values that unite the Russian society, ultimately, to weaken Russia and put it under external control. “As we see and know, this is happening in some countries in the post-Soviet space,” the Kremlin press service quotes Putin.
He stressed that he was not exaggerating the threats. “It is enough to get acquainted with public strategic documents and very frank statements by government officials in a number of countries. They don’t even try to hide their unfriendly attitude towards Russia and a number of other independent, sovereign centers of world development,” the president said.
“A targeted information campaign is being waged against us with categorical and unsubstantiated accusations on a number of issues. Absurd, I would even say, all sorts of anecdotal conspiracy theories are being used. For example, recent attempts to question our achievements in the field of medicine, in the fight against coronavirus... You know, many attempts have been made and are being made, thank you for the information that you convey to the political leadership of the country regarding the fact that some are planned provocations in this area,” Putin said.
“They are trying to shackle us with economic and other sanctions, block large international projects, in which, by the way, not only we, but also our partners are interested, directly interfere in public and political life, in the democratic procedures of our country and, of course, are actively using tools from the arsenal of the special services,” the head of state listed.
According to Putin, “such a line in relation to Russia is absolutely futile.”
“Relying on the already created base, on the increasing capabilities and potential of the service, it is necessary to ensure a new quality of work in all key areas of work,” the head of state called on the leadership of the FSB.
