Putin instructed to transfer foreign trade to rubles and accelerate public investment in the economy
Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered to accelerate the transition to rubles in foreign trade.
He stated this today at a meeting on economic issues, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“It is necessary to provide maximum assistance to entrepreneurs in solving these problems, including accelerating the transition of foreign trade to settlements in rubles and in the national currencies of countries that are reliable business partners. I want to emphasize: in the new, changed conditions, we must advance here at a much faster pace,” Putin said.
He also called for supporting the economy through the state budget, which is currently in surplus.
“Based on the results of the first quarter of this year, a record level of surplus in the budget system was recorded. Additional solutions are needed here, and they need to be implemented exactly at the moment when the economy needs it most. Of course, we need to be careful, I understand, but the key condition, of course, remains the long-term stability of the financial system both at the federal and regional levels. How much is our surplus now? 1,1 trillion rubles, in my opinion, and in the regions the total surplus is also somewhere around a trillion – 0,9,” Putin noted.
