Putin repeats Yanukovych's choice: Should riot police be sent against Maidan? - Advisor to Strelkov
Yalta, August 29 (New Region, Mikhail Ryabov) – Forcing Ukrainian troops to retreat from Donetsk and Lugansk is not enough, a complete defeat of the ruling regime in Kyiv is necessary.
This was stated at a conference in Yalta by Igor Druz, adviser to the leader of the pro-Russian Donbass rebels Igor Strelkov.

“I have absolutely no doubt that the junta will not be able to take either Donetsk or Lugansk, it will be knocked out and pushed far away, our offensive is underway. But the fact is that this is not enough... The Kiev regime remained led by war criminals like Poroshenko and others,” he said.
“The Russian state must take action... It was necessary to break the back of the junta from the very beginning, before it had legitimate status - it was necessary to send in troops,” Druz added.
“Our task is not to create another appanage principality like Transnistria or Abkhazia. Our task is to break the back of the junta. The Ukrainian fascist state poses a danger to Russia. Of course, not by its military power, but by the fact that Ukraine is a grandiose Maidan, a source of unrest. And Putin now is like Yanukovych, standing in front of the Maidan and deciding whether to use riot police? Yanukovych thought that it was possible to come to an agreement with the junta. We know how it ended. And now the situation is very similar,” he believes.
Druz believes that, following Ukraine, the West will try to organize a civil confrontation in Russia itself.
“We need to defend legitimate power - any power is better than the unrest and chaos that will fall on Russia,” said Strelkov’s adviser.
