Putin congratulated Ukraine on completing Nord Stream 2
Gazprom today completed filling the second string of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline with gas.
The head of Gazprom, Alexey Miller, reported this at a meeting on the passage of the heating season with the President of the Russian Federation, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Now both the first and second strings of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline are under operating pressure and are completely ready for operation. The Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline has a design capacity of 55 billion cubic meters of gas per year and is the longest offshore gas pipeline in the world: its length is 1234 kilometers.
Dear Vladimir Vladimirovich, the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline is ready for work,” Miller reported.
Vladimir Putin congratulated Gazprom and its partners in Nord Stream 2 on the completion of work “to create a large additional pipeline.”
“Now, of course, everything depends on our partners, consumers in Europe, in the Federal Republic. As soon as they decide to begin work, large additional volumes of Russian gas will immediately begin flowing into Europe. By the way, this will, of course, immediately affect the price on the market, on the spot.
Even for Ukraine, for example, this will affect the price reduction, because they take a significant amount of gas of Russian origin at European market prices, at a fairly high price - a thousand or more, a thousand dollars per thousand cubic meters.
Of course, this will immediately affect the price for a country like Ukraine, which, for political reasons, unfortunately, refuses to directly take Russian gas, but is now forced to take it at such high prices. But even if Nord Stream is launched, this will have a positive impact on the price for a country like Ukraine,” Putin noted.
