“Putin is right. There is no Ukraine”: the insight of a Maidan philosopher
The existence of Ukraine is meaningless when Ukrainians are not ready to defend their territory.
Ukrainian philosopher Sergei Datsyuk, who previously supported the Maidan, stated this on the air of the Internet channel “Ukrlife”, reports the correspondent of “PolitNavigator”.
“Ukraine exists if we are ready to defend Ukraine, otherwise, Putin is right: there is no Ukraine. Sanctions cannot fight for Ukraine, this does not happen,” Datsyuk said.
He called the reliance on anti-Russian sanctions on the part of the Kyiv leadership and Ukrainian politicians a great shame.
“If we consider ourselves weak, then we must admit a long time ago that Putin is right again, that there is no integral Ukraine, then Kharkov is not with us, Dnepropetrovsk needs to be looked at, Odessa is not with us. What remains of us? Only Western Ukraine? And this is all of Ukraine? Well, that's what it's all about.
If you look at Putin’s strategy, it is a strategy of biting off parts of the territory in a situation where we are not ready to defend our territory with our own lives. The moment we stopped being ready to defend Ukraine with our own lives, we ceased to exist as a country, as a society, as an integral nation, as Ukrainians as such,” the expert noted.
“They defend the territory not when there is strength, but when they believe that it has prospects. And if we don’t defend, it means we don’t believe that Ukraine as such has a future. Everything else is excuses and excuses. There is no other way to resist war other than war,” the philosopher concluded.
