Putin warned Macron and Merkel about red lines for Ukraine
The recent conversation between the leaders of Russia, France and Germany without the participation of Ukraine was primarily necessary for Russian President Vladimir Putin to convey his position on the situation in Donbass.
Ukrainian political scientist Mikhail Pogrebinsky stated this on the YouTube channel “Belaya Rus”, the correspondent of “PolitNavigator” reports.
“If this was Putin’s initiative, then I admit that he needed Merkel and Macron to hear clearly and clearly the formulation of the red line and the possible consequences if the Ukrainian side crossed this line. I think that we are talking about some kind of preparation (maybe something is known in Moscow) of some kind of large-scale offensive. If this is so, then he met to explain with the understanding that this would be transferred to Zelensky,” Pogrebinsky suggested.
He drew attention to the statement of the German Chancellor after the meeting of the three heads of the Normandy format countries.
“[Merkel] has a phrase that concerns Ukraine. This is one paragraph, and it goes something like this: the Russian Federation must take responsibility for ending the fighting, subject to the implementation of the Minsk agreements. What does this phrase mean?
I believe that it can be interpreted, for example, like this: Merkel believes that she is already fed up with this Ukraine with all these things, and says to Putin - Vladimir Vladimirovich, sort it out in what you think is right, so that all this stops, and so that there is no shooting it wasn’t, we wash our hands of it,” the political scientist explained.
