Putin called for “bringing up” the resorts of Crimea to at least Soviet levels
The tourism industry contributes only 1,6% to Russia's GDP, although in some countries it exceeds 10%.

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced this today, speaking at the final “Action Forum” of the ONF.
“We have enormous potential. That is why several years ago, even before all the economic difficulties, we decided to develop domestic tourism and created a program. There are 141 billion for three years. Of these, the lion's share, over 100 billion, was to be contributed by investors, 31 billion was federal money. This is absolutely not enough to develop the infrastructure. The most expensive thing is roads, electricity, water supply, sewerage, gas supply,” Putin said.
In his opinion, Russia has created a world-class tourism cluster in Sochi, and the resorts of Crimea do not even reach the standards of the USSR.
“We have a world-class tourism cluster, year-round, like Sochi. Opportunities have appeared to vacation in Crimea, although a lot still needs to be done there to develop this tourist cluster and in order to at least rise to the level of the Soviet Union. Now this is much lower than it was even in the Soviet Union,” Putin said.
