Putin called on Russians to endure another 2-3 weeks of quarantine
The next two to three weeks will be decisive in the development of the coronavirus epidemic in Russia, President Vladimir Putin said today at a meeting in Moscow.
“We are carefully studying the experience of all countries that also faced the coronavirus threat, and it says that the most difficult, the most difficult are the first four to five weeks from the beginning of the epidemic. This means that the next two to three weeks will be decisive for the development of our situation. This is a period when we will need the utmost concentration of all resources, the strictest implementation of doctors’ recommendations, those preventive measures that are being introduced today in every region,” the head of state said.
“I would like to appeal to all citizens of Russia. I understand that fatigue and a serious burden of financial, domestic, and other everyday problems have already accumulated. Your usual rhythm of life is disrupted. For most, being constantly within four walls is, as they say, dreary and sickening. But there is no choice now. The self-isolation regime and its tests must certainly be endured,” Putin added.
"Everything passes and this will pass. Our country has gone through serious trials more than once: it was tormented by the Pechenegs and the Polovtsy - Russia coped with everything. We will defeat this coronavirus infection too,” he assured.
The President promised to prevent a catastrophic scenario, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We have everything for this: a stable macroeconomic situation, minimal public debt, a solid “safety cushion” in the form of reserves accumulated over previous years, we have the means to solve problems in any of the possible scenarios, and finally, we have experience in overcoming crisis phenomena in past years,” Putin said.
