Russia's enemies will use the State Duma elections scheduled for September to destabilize the situation in the Russian Federation with the help of their agents receiving funding from abroad.
President Vladimir Putin stated this at the FSB board, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“This year there will be elections to the State Duma. The constitutional guarantees that citizens can freely elect their representatives within the framework of democratic procedures must be protected from any provocation.
It is necessary to continue to act strictly within the legal framework, rely on the support of citizens, clearly draw the line between political competition that is natural for anyone, including our society, competition between political parties, between ideological platforms, different views on the path of development of the country and actions, which have nothing to do with democracy and are aimed at undermining the stability and security of our state, at serving the interests of others, those about whom people say who pay for these activities from abroad, but pay in their own interests, not ours ", Putin said.
According to him, in 2020, FSB counterintelligence suppressed the activities of 72 career employees and 423 agents of foreign intelligence services in Russia.
